The Filipino Martial Arts are a highly effective weapons-based art. In the FMA class, you will learn various blunt and edged weapon training methods, as well as various empty hands and attribute development training methods. The training will teach you how to effectively neutralize blunt and edged weapon assaults through the use of footwork, redirections and body angulations.
The FMA class will focus on blunt and edged weaponry. Training will be in the following areas: Single stick, Double stick, Single knife, Double knife, Stick and knife, Dumog (grappling), Kina Mutai (a unique set up art), Pananjakman (a low line kicking art), Panantuken (a highly effective boxing art).
The current class schedule focuses on single and double stick training and single knife fighting methods. Kali empty hand training methods are also blended into the training.
Students get a mix of technique, drills and combinations, sparring and strategy. The sparring is always light and playful (with protective gear for the head, hand and forearms).
The training methods practiced are as follows:
1. Inosanto blend of Kali.
2. Paul Vunak blend of Kali (for senior students only).
During the FMA classes, students get the chance to train techniques, employ various tactics and spar periodically. |
